Three Uses for Olive Oil in Your Beauty Routine

Olive oil is high in antioxidants, vitamin E, B12 and A.  For centuries it has been used to cure and treat multiple different aliments including, high cholesterol, heart disease and upset stomachs, but it is often overlooked when it comes to beauty care.  Olive oil is a completely natural replacement for many of your beauty products.   • Hair conditioning treatment
    Olive oil makes and excellent hair conditioning treatment.  It will add shine and moisture to your hair without weighing it down like traditional hair conditioning treatments. To try this, take a small amount of olive oil and rub it into your scalp. From there, work it through the ends of your hair, then cover your hair with a plastic bag or towel. Leave the oil on for 15-20 minutes. For added benefits, sit in the sun or use a blow dryer to open the cuticle of your hair, allowing the oil to penetrate deeper into your hair.
  • Treatment for brittle nails and dry cuticles
    You can replace all of your nail care products with olive oil. Olive oil makes an excellent nail strengthener and also, will repair dry, cracked cuticles. To use olive oil for this purpose simply pour a couple teaspoons into a nail soaking tray and immerse your fingertips in the oil for 5-10 minutes.  You can do this daily or weekly depending on the results you wish to see.
  • Skin moisturizer
    Olive oil makes and excellent replacement for lotion. Most lotions contain numerous   different chemical and preservatives.  Olive oil will moisturize your skin just as well,  if not better than these lotions.  Olive oil has also been proven to increase elasticity  in skin, reduce the appearance of stretch marks and improve skin tone and texture.

It is important to remember that there are different types of olive oil. When using olive oil for beauty care, it is important to purchase an organic, extra virgin olive oil. Also, you want to look for an olive oil that is cold pressed. Some olive oils are prepared by heat. This decreased the amount of nutrients in the oil olive, thus decreasing the health benefits of it.

    I only know about Mary Kay. The hand cream is designed to keep working even after washing hands often. Feet aren’t exposed to water as often. That leads to another difference.
