If you are passionate about the field of cosmetology, it is not a difficult task to receive your cosmetology license.  There are many different cosmetology schools to choose from around the country. These school offer a variety of different programs and schedules to make it easy and convenient for anyone with a passion for cosmetology to graduate.The first step to becoming licensed is to choose a school that offers the education that you want, as well a class schedule that works for you. After you find the school that you would like to attend. You must complete the curriculum the school requires to graduate.  Cosmetology school graduation requirements vary from state to state, but all states require that you complete a certain number of hours in cosmetology school classes to graduate. Most states require between 1500-2000 hours in school to graduate.

Within the required hours in cosmetology school, you will be required to spend 200-300 hours learning health and safety information pertaining to the field of cosmetology. Within these classes you will learn about client safety, infectious diseases and the technical abilities of your trade. You will be tested on this knowledge when you complete the required hours of cosmetology school . You will need to pass this test to graduate school and obtain your cosmetology license.

After you pass the required tests given by your cosmetology school, you will be required to pass a test regulated by the state in which you attended cosmetology school. This exam, call the cosmetology state board test, has two different portions: written and practical.

The written portion of this exam will be similar to the exam you are given in cosmetology school. You will need to review your hair cutting, hair chemical services, and hair styling skills to pass this test. Also, you will be tested on your client safety procedures.

With your passion for cosmetology and this information in mind, you should be prepared with the knowledge to become a licensed cosmetologist and start your career in the field of cosmetology.
