Eating healthy when you are single can be a bit of a challenge, but if you keep a few basic foods on hand, you can prepare quick healthy meals and snacks. Here are just a few of the types of foods that are good to keep on hand if you want to eat healthy. With these few essential items, you can create quick easy healthy meals for one.

Eating Healthy
- Cooked turkey breast, or ham
- Crackers (high quality whole grain crackers)
- Cheese (real cheese in a chunk)
- Low fat milk
- Low fat sour cream
- A couple quality light dressings with olive oil
- Fresh fruit
- Crisp salad veggies
- Eggs
- Frozen chicken breasts
- A steak or two…
Shopping more frequently for a just a few fresh items will prevent waste and spoilage. Try shopping at a local farmers market that sells individual fruits and veggies, (so you do not buy too many ahead of time.) You should also try to find a nice local market for meats and dairy. By keeping some individually frozen meats on hand, you can quick thaw and toss them on the grill (indoor counter top grills work great) and just that easy, you will have fresh, healthy meals.

Healthy Eating
Try to avoid eating out on a daily basis, but instead, cook simple, healthy meals at home, then go out to a nice restaurant and treat yourself to a great meal, that you would not cook at home, once a week or so. By eating healthy at home, you can afford to splurge on a higher fat or higher calorie meal occasionally and still live healthy.
One last word or advice, buy a half gallon of low fat ice cream or sherbet for a sweet treat, avoid keeping chips, candies and fattening deserts on hand, remember, if they are not there, you will not eat them!

What’s hitting its peak at the farmers market? Grape tomatoes – Los Angeles Times –
It's not a fair to hijack the term Farmers Market, but is the Heinz version as nice and fresh tasing as the real thing???
Come and see for yourselves tomorrow at the famous Stroud Farmers Market in Gloucestershire. The market's Green Man Cafe will buy the ingredients from the market and prepare PROPER farmers market soups. We will have a taste trial so that you can compare ours with Heinz!
The Farmers Market "trade mark" should be protected and taken out of the reach of these marauding giants, stalking the countryside plundering any good idea and instantly turning it into someting preserved, salty and twisted. Sorry, they make me cross. Come and show them up to be the cynical pilferers they really are!
I really believe that FARMA (the Farmers Market umbrella organisation which accredits and certifies these markets in th UK) should be investing a large chunk of it's budget into protecting it's accreditation and branding, rather like the Soil Assoc. etc have done through govt. directives for the term "Organic". After all, I have heard through a reliable link that Heinz is investing £3.5M into the launch of their mediocre soup. Farmers Markets are something special and brilliant and celebratory, it is madness to sit by and let this happen.
As a side swipe at the PAID market organisers, who all received an email from FARMA, as far as I know only 2 of them have taken this issue up with any sort of crusading fervour, and called in the Trading Standards Agency.
So I say as a Trader….Heinz, we demand that you withdraw this soup, it is nothing better than deceitful identy theft. Shame on you, it is bully tactics and to be abhored.
Fruits and veggies are good… apples, bananas, papaya, grapes, carrots, celery, etc, etc, etc. Popcorn (not the pre-salted super buttered type) is a pretty healthy snack (kettle corn is sweet and still pretty low calorie). Salads with a healthy meat such as fish or chicken (baked or grilled) is a pretty good food choice. For a higher calorie snack, you can always go with granola bars. (lots of fiber there as well). Cut down to no more than one soda a day. Pick up drinking lightly or unsweetened teas, especially green tea.
Same here!
