			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Can  vegetarians consume healthy diets, even without meat? Let’s start  out with the idea of meat being the most important part of a meal/diet.  Do many people think this, particularly those who aren’t vegetarians?  Yes. Is it the truth? No! Meat is not the most important of a diet,  in fact meat is not recommended to be eaten more than twice a week due  to the high fat content, in particular saturated fatty acids. So how  else can vegetarians get their protein? And, what nutrients should vegetarians  focus on?<span id="more-219"></span></p>

Vegetarians get their protein just as non-vegetarians do…through plant  protein! Plant protein is found in items such as nuts, beans, peas,  soy products, and whole grains. Many people eat these items without  knowing that they are getting the same quality of protein as in meat,  except without all the added fat.</p>
<p>Plant protein sources deliver healthy  fiber, vitamins, and minerals to our bodies. For vegetarians in particular,  it is wise to monitor your cheese intake. Many unconsciously substitute  cheese products (high in fat) for the lack of meat protein. However,  it would be more beneficial to substitute meat protein for low-fat protein  sources, such as nuts, beans and lentils.</p>
<p>Iron  is a mineral that often comes from meat products. For vegetarians it  is true that they need to watch their iron intake. Iron is important  for carrying oxygen to our blood, without it we would not be able to  function properly. However, in a world where technology is growing,  we have come to a point where many of our foods are fortified with vitamins  or minerals. Breakfast cereals, in particular, can often be found fortified  with iron. Other iron sources include lentils, kidney beans, spinach,  and black-eyed peas.</p>
<p>Since  vegetarians (except those who are lacto-ovo) do not eat milk products  people might wonder where a vegetarian gets their daily calcium. Soy  products, including tofu and beverages, orange juice, and dark leafy  vegetables all contain great quantities of calcium. It is important  for vegetarians to consume some type of food high in calcium because  this mineral is important to bone health and strength. It is particularly  important for female vegetarians. Soy-products are also a great source  of Vitamin B<sub>12</sub>, a vitamin found only in animal products.</p>
<p>Vegetarians  can be, and often are, just as healthy or unhealthy as non-vegetarians.  It depends on what you eat and how much you eat.</p>

<p>Here are the main groups in the Food Pyramid of the 21st century.</p>

<li><strong>Grains </strong>- At least half of all the grains eaten should be whole grains.</li>
<li><strong>Vegetables </strong>- Vegetables are organized into 5 subgroups, based on their nutrient content.</li>
<li><strong>Fruits </strong>- Fruits may be fresh, canned, frozen, or dried, and may be whole, cut-up, or pureed.</li>
<li><strong>Milk </strong>- Foods made from milk that have little to no calcium, such as cream cheese, cream, and butter, are not considered part of this food group.</li>
<li><strong>Meat &amp; Beans </strong>- The best meat and poultry choices will be lean or low-fat. Unlike older food pyramids, the modern ones tend to recommend smaller amounts of protein.</li>
<li><strong>Oils </strong>- Oils come from many different plants and from fish and some are better for the body than others.</li>
<li><strong>Discretionary Calories </strong>- The amount will vary from person to person, but in general this will be 300 to 400 calories worth of food used on sugars, high fat foods, and other types of food that are &#8220;treats&#8221; in a way.</li>

First, you must choose a school that offers the type of education you want. There are many school available, but the quality of education varies from school to school. The quality of the school is usually reflected in the cost of tuition.</p>
<p>While you can become license through any accredited cosmetology school, it will be much more difficult for you to pass you state board test if the school of your choice lacks a quality education course.</p>
<p>Also, you must consider the class schedule the school offers. Many schools only offer one class schedule, which can be difficult for some people. Make sure you look into a school which offer alternative class schedules.</p>
<p>After you have chosen the cosmetology school which will work best for you, you then have to complete the course. In most cases, if you attend school full time, you will complete the program within 12 months. Although it varies from state to state, you will be required to attend school between 1300 and 2000 hours.</p>
<p>After you have completed the required amount of hours, you will then be required to take a final test to graduate cosmetology school. Passing this test will assure that you are ready to take the state regulated cosmetology test.</p>
<p>The final step to receiving your cosmetology license is passing the cosmetology state board test.  If you have graduated cosmetology school, you will also be prepared to pass the state board test. This test will be given in two different portions.</p>
<p>The first portion is a written portion. This will test your knowledge of technical information pertaining to cosmetology. The second portion will be a hands on test, which will test your skills in the field of cosmetology.  After you have passed and completed both portions of this test, you will then become a licensed cosmetologist.</p>
